TORINA MEDIA
Joe Torina has been involved with award-winning television shows and top names in the broadcast industry for nearly forty years.
At NBC NETWORK, he regularly controlled projects as large as political campaigns and conventions, global live specials, and worldwide sporting events. He received nine national EMMY honors in news, sports and entertainment. And, with overall budget responsibilities exceeding sixty million dollars, he served as production executive for such programs as THE TODAY SHOW, JEOPARDY, PRESIDENTIAL ELECTIONS, NIGHTLY NEWS, APOLLO SPACE SPECIALS, PGA and LPGA GOLF TOURNAMENTS, several WORLD SERIES and SUPER BOWLS, and more than a dozen documentary specials.
In ‘75-’76, he managed and associate produced what was then the most ambitious live special in the history of television: an eleven hour broadcast with over seventy remotes from around the world for NBC’s Bicentennial celebration called THE GLORIOUS FOURTH. In the first half-hour of this program, locations set-up over a period of ten months included live shots from the DMZ in Korea, to the Vatican, to NYC’s Operation Sail, to surfers on the west coast. NBC’s legendary 8H and 8G studios were used in tandem to traffic all hard line and microwave transmissions from around the globe throughout the day. Also featured was the world’s first on-location remote via satellite, courtesy of a COMSAT prototype uplink positioned in Yellowstone National Park.
Following NBC, Torina produced film, television and music videos as an independent in New York. He created programming and advertising for such companies as AMERICAN EXPRESS, NICKELODEON, COLUMBIA PICTURES TELEVISION, the ABC, NBC and CBS NETWORKS, MCA and CBS RECORDS, ESPN, SHOWTIME, and PBS.
In 1990, Torina moved operations to Central Florida to produce projects for HOME SHOPPING NETWORK and a host of new regional clients. Together with ANTHONY POTTER PRODUCTIONS in NY, other projects at the time included THE PRESIDENTS - four PBS one hour specials with former Presidents Nixon, Ford, Carter and Reagan, a thirteen part series on WWII fighter aces for the DISCOVERY CHANNEL called HUNTERS IN THE SKY, and worldwide shooting for SPIES, a twenty-six half-hour series on espionage for A&E.
From 2000 to 2010, TORINA MEDIA served as head of creative services and production operations for Central Florida’s MYMEDIAWORKS advertising, a DYNETECH corporation. For them and others since 1990, the company produced over eighty DRTV, home shopping and infomercial programs generating over a billion dollars in sales. TORINA MEDIA is located in Orlando, Florida.
